What is the Right Pelican Case for Me?

If you are shipping sensitive materials that need top-notch protection, a Pelican case might be the right choice for you. Read our blog to learn more about these premier cases to see if it might be the right option for your next shipment.

What Are Pelican Cases?

Pelican cases are watertight protective cases designed to store and transport sensitive equipment, electronics, and other valuable items. These cases are made from high-impact structural copolymer, making them extremely durable and able to withstand harsh conditions such as poor weather or a bumpy ride. Pelican cases also feature an O-ring seal and an automatic pressure equalization valve, which helps to keep water and dust out while balancing interior pressure. This feature makes them suitable for use in a variety of demanding environments such as military, industrial, photography, and outdoor adventures.

How to Choose the Right Pelican Case

There are three steps you must take to choose the right Pelican case for your needs:

Gear Measurement

Gear measurement sounds simple enough but it is imperative to get right, or you will not get all the benefits of a Pelican case that make it worth the investment. Be sure to measure your gear precisely, including its length, width and depth. If there are any other items you’ll be shipping with a given item, be sure to include those in your measurements as well, as you will want to measure anything and everything that will be going inside the case.

Choose Your Case Size

Pelican cases are most frequently found in three sizes: 10 x 7 cm, 45 x 25 cm, and 100 x 35 cm. Based on the measurements of your gear, you will choose the case size that will best fit your gear neatly and snugly! Your case should not be much bigger than your gear or the safety of the cargo could be compromised. If your gear is too large for the 100 x 35 cm case, custom cases are available so be sure to ask someone with Pelican case knowledge, like us!

Interior Selection

Choosing the interior of your Pelican case is the final step in the process. Typically speaking, there are three interiors you can choose from:

  • Padded dividers offer velcro on both sides, which are useful because you’re able to create custom pockets for your gear. Because of how they’re designed, the pockets can be moved however you’d like so you have many options on how to set up the case.
  • Pick N Pluck™ foam has perforated cubes that can be removed easily, allowing for plenty of customization in the shape and feel inside your case.
  • TrekPak™ is a divider system which gives the case an organized interior.
